  2. for political reasons. The term is also used
  3. in economics to describe non-replacement of
  4. stock as it wears out. It is generally
  5. applied to the ostensive removal of funds
  6. from South Africa in recent years by such
  7. multinational companies as General Motors and
  8. Barclays Bank. Disinvestment may be motivated
  9. by fear of loss of business in the home
  10. market caused by adverse publicity, or by
  11. fear of loss of foreign resources if the
  12. local government changes.
